JAMB Releases Rescheduled UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The resit was conducted for over 336,000 candidates whose original results were affected by technical glitches at 157 centres in Lagos State and the South-east. According to JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the results are now available, and candidates can check their scores using the approved methods[6].

Key Statistics: 71% Score Below 200

  • Number of candidates scheduled: 336,845
  • Absent candidates: 21,082
  • Percentage scoring below 200: 71%
  • Percentage scoring above 200: 29.3%
  • Percentage scoring above 250: 6.08%
  • Percentage scoring above 300: 0.88%

JAMB confirmed that 71% of candidates who sat for the rescheduled UTME scored below 200 out of 400. Only a handful scored above 217, and just 0.88% attained scores above 300[4][6].

Background: Why Was the UTME Rescheduled?

The rescheduled UTME followed widespread technical and human errors during the initial examination, leading to public outcry and concerns over mass failure. JAMB admitted that these errors negatively impacted candidate performance, prompting the board to organize a resit for affected candidates[1][3].

Candidate Experiences and Score Changes

Some candidates reported significant improvements in their scores after the resit. For example, one candidate’s score increased from 170 in the initial exam to 301 in the rescheduled UTME, as shared by education stakeholders on social media. However, JAMB emphasized that there were no high scorers in the cancelled sessions of the affected states, with the vast majority scoring below 200[1][2].

How to Check Your JAMB Result

  • Send the word RESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using your registered phone number.
  • You will receive an SMS with your score details. Do not visit CBT centres or cafes to check your result.
  • If your result is still being processed or you were absent, you will receive a corresponding message.
  • Candidates under investigation or with withdrawn results will be notified by JAMB via SMS, email, and their JAMB profile[5].

Next Steps: Mop-up Exams and Withdrawals

Of the 336,845 scheduled candidates, 21,082 were absent and will have the opportunity to participate in a mop-up examination. Candidates involved in examination infractions will not receive results, and some results have been withdrawn following investigations. Underage candidates and those whose results do not meet minimum criteria are also ineligible for admission until they meet the required age[3][5].
